About this archive

Minding the Net is a small, independent project about Arizona and lower-league American soccer. Here is what that means.

01What this is

Minding the Net is a fan-run reference for the clubs and players of Arizona and the American lower leagues — the fourth-tier amateur game of USL League Two and the small professional clubs around it. Each entry pairs the verifiable record for a club or a player with a plainly written account of how they fit into the wider game. The aim is to keep this level of football on the record, because most of it never makes it into the mainstream press.

The site occupies the domain mindingthe.net, which in an earlier life hosted a soccer blog. This archive is a new and unrelated project. We did not write, and do not reproduce, any of the earlier site's material.

02What this is not

This is not an official club or league site. Minding the Net is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to FC Tucson, Phoenix Rising, the USL, or any club, league or player named here. We do not speak for them, and nothing on the site should be read as coming from them.

Club names, crests and related marks are the property of their owners. We name them for identification, commentary and reference — the ordinary business of writing about sport — and for no other purpose.

03How the profiles are written

Every profile is original writing. We check the hard facts — founding dates, leagues, results, birthdates, clubs — against public reference material, and we say where a page's facts come from on our sources and method page. The reference is meant to be accurate; the framing and judgement are ours.

The archive is a work in progress. It starts with FC Tucson and a handful of connected players, and grows from there. If a club or player you expect is missing, it simply has not been added yet.
